Some More Vintage Pics of Woodhaven 

We're back with some more vintage pictures of Woodhaven, again courtesy of Joe Virgona, who has graciously shared these with us from his collection.  First up is a few images from the Leader-Observer showing the building of the El Train along Jamaica Avenue.  The picture at left is said to be from 1915.  The mounds of dirt were created as they dug holes for the pillars to support the tracks.  The picture at right is from 1916 and was taken from the 2nd Floor of the Leader-Observer building (which stood at 80-30 Jamaica Avenue) and is overlooking Forest Parkway.  Take note of the trolley car in both pictures.

Here is another shot, of the same intersection, taken on the same snowy day. 

Below we have 2 pictures from the aftermath of the tornado that hit Woodhaven in July 1895.
