ELVIS SIGHTED IN FOREST PARK
If the crowd was starting to get loose with Willie Nelson, the next act broke the bank. It's an amazing testament to the aura of Elvis that even his impersonators generate excitement. I'd never seen an Elvis impersonator before -- not in person. But who knows . . . maybe this was the real Elvis . . .
Elvis came out, looking resplendent in his white jump suit. He started off with the song he traditionally used to open his shows -- "See See Rider." Note: Yeah, that's correct. I thought it was "CC" as well, but I looked it up on Wikipedia.
The crowd was digging this, and you know what? So were we. How could you not dig it? It's Elvis, right here in Woodhaven, on stage at our bandshell! He then moved into 1972's "Burning Love" -- which, as a trivia note, was his last Top Ten hit here in the US. Here we go -- just in case no one believes you -- video of Elvis in Woodhaven:
He ran through a nice set of songs and there was lots of dancing in the aisles. A lot of people came up to the stage to see him up close and, as you can see below, there were lots of cell phone pictures being taken. It was great to see people having fun with this -- that's what Elvis is about. Fun!
Here's some more video of The King -- watch it to see how the crowd is real into it.
He wrapped it up with some karate moves --
And then it was back to the dressing room, a job well done!
So that wraps up Part 2 of this report.
