Here's the second part of our series of pictures we had no home for. The first part can be found here. Again, there's no straight narrative for these pictures -- just some snapshots we've taken along the way that didn't fit on any other page. Here's an interesting one to start off with. Recently the store that occupied this lot -- Karako's Men's Suits -- underwent some renovations and took down their awning. In the process, an old store from Woodhaven's past was uncovered -- The Woodhaven Home & Gift Center. The sign doesn't look all that familiar to me, and I lived around the corner from there since the late 70's. And the sign doesn't look very old -- or else it's very well preserved. Anyone out there have any thoughts?
Here's a picture of a house being reconstructed over on 96th Street. Look familiar?
The last time we saw this house, it was in flames (below). That was back in February. It's good to see them back on the rebound!
I love this next picture ~ here's the story behind it. We were on our way home from shopping and I got a spot and waited while Mrs. PW went into Dunkin' Donuts. The young guy in the car pictured below, pulled over and parked -- right there -- and went into Dunkin' Donuts as well. Look how he's parked! Not only is he about 3 feet from the curb -- he's blocking the crosswalk. That's just asking for a ticket! But how many times have you seen a dolt park like that only to get away with it? Well, not this time. As you can see, an officer wrote him out a ticket. (Note: The lady in the picture was not with the parked car -- I'm thinking she was thanking the officer for writing the ticket.)
This next shot was taken at Forest Parkway and Jamaica Avenue, around Easter. This bunny looks kinda sad and lonely, doesn't he?
Next up is a picture we took at Victory Field late one afternoon. It's a ground level view from behind home plate on the artificial turf baseball field.
Here's some stray Woodhaven cats, waiting for a friend to feed them. You can tell by the looks on their faces that they knew dinner was coming.
Here's another animal picture. This pooch looks like he's ready to hit the road if his owner doesn't get back soon. I bet you wouldn't find him blocking any crosswalks!
This was back in February, the remnants of a snowstorm. The exhaust fumes from the cars and buses were turning this pile of snow black.
And finally, one more -- taken today. The field at Franklin K. Lane, all torn up. Anyone know what the plans are for it?
Once again. if you have pictures of your own you'd like to share, by all means, send them in! We'll credit you any way you like . . .
