The forecast had been for rain during the entire weekend -- but by Sunday afternoon it was still bone dry. The forecasters had pushed back the rain so many times, people stuck to their plans and took to the outdoors. But late Sunday afternoon, it got real dark in a hurry. The wind began to pick up, the trees started to waver back and forth. And suddenly, we knew we were in for a good one. So, we packed up our gear and headed for the front porch - the intention being that we'd do what we did during the blizzards this Winter -- drive around Woodhaven and see how it was coping.
But once on the porch, we saw a few bolts of lightning -- followed by loud cracks of thunder -- and then large hail stones began to fall. Mrs. Project Woodhaven skedaddled back inside, leaving me and my tripod to take this tour alone. The tripod acquitted itself -- I just left it on the front seat and it swiveled back and forth -- sometimes filming out the front, other times out the side window. Here's what we came up with. You will see the hail stones throughout this video -- and near the end, check out the band shell for the nearly 2 dozen folks taking shelter there. Enjoy!
Warning: Watching this video will make you feel wet.
Note: This was a real nasty storm, as you can see. On my way home, I saw a tree that had come down, across Park Lane South.
