Here's a worthwhile event to put on your calendar. There's going to be an all-day Church Fair and Flea Market at the Emmanuel United Church of Christ on Saturday, November 14th from 10 AM to 8 PM. The Emmanuel Church is located at 91st Avenue and Woodhaven Blvd. (near the foot of the bridge that crosses Atlantic Avenue, near where St. Anthony's used to be.)
There will be books, crafts, baked goods, granny's attic items and many vendors with a variety of great things for sale along with a GIANT Auction table. Refreshments and lunch will also be available. Admission to the Church Fair and Flea Market is free.
In the evening, there is a dinner -- home-made Meat Loaf Dinner made by the father of one of the Boy Scouts. You also get his delicious fresh bread, made right there in the Emmanuel Church along with a fruit cup, potatoes, vegetables, iced tea, apple crumb cake for dessert and coffee or tea. The cost of this dinner is $17 for adults, and $8.50 for children 12 and under. Reservations have to be made in advance by calling the Church at 718 849-1153.
Here is the flyer that is going round -- or you can print it out here.
It's a beautiful building with a long history. If you have followed any of our reports on the Woodhaven Historical Society, you will be familiar with it. There are a few very interesting plaques inside, such as this one:
Sounds like a fun day and night! And for a good cause. If you have any comments, or would like to suggest other projects, drop us a line at info@projectwoodhaven.com or projectwoodhaven@aol.com.
