We continue looking at Jamaica Avenue, and the recent changes, and see this location, between 91st and Woodhaven.  Long the location of Brown's Jewelers (and Fred J. Pfeffer Jeweler before that).  Recently it was Delicias Del Pan, a Bakery.

Now it's still a Bakery, Beky Bakery & Coffee Shop.

In the 1940's there was a hairstylist upstairs.  And then, we believe, there was a Dentist up there.  Recently, the 2nd Floor became occupied by a Tattoo Artist.  You can also get piercings up there.

Here's another old video of this stretch of Woodhaven --

Next up we have the Caridad Restaurant on the corner of 91st and Jamaica.  For years this was the location of Loft's.

The Caridad is still in business -- in fact, they must be doing real good.  Look at them now!  Very nice job of sprucing up their look, no?

Down near Monsignor Mulz' Hall, Carta Ena's Fashion has left the scene, only to be replaced by Park Place Floral who have returned to Woodhaven after a brief stint at Atlas Mall.

Happy Star Chinese Restaurant (85th and Jamaica) has been renamed Hong Kong Gourmet.  I was a fan of Happy Star and loved their egg rolls.  I haven't checked out the new folks but that's just a matter of time.

Lots of folks complain about too many 99 cent stores in Woodhaven.  Well, here we replaced one with a Green Market.  That's definitely a nice sign.

But we get one back as Bengol Meat Market on 77th and Jamaica is replaced by A to Z Discount Store.

Then, further along Jamaica Avenue, we have the Acapulco Bar & Restaurant changing names and awnings.  Not sure what, if any, renovations they did inside.  This is the place where someone painted the tree outside white.  Why?  We don't know.  See The Trees of Jamaica Avenue for more information.

Whew!  A lot of changes, right?  Here, at 79th and Jamaica, St. Peter's Grill Restaurant has made way for Ambar's Hall Rental.  They do advertise Catering Available, so I'm guessing they may still have the kitchen intact.  Rough times for restaurants.

And our last change, the variety store at the corner of 85th and Jamaica has changed their name from Top Shop to Top Style.  Unfortunately for these guys, the damn pigeons keep crapping on their awning and they need to change it every few years.

Well, that's you caught up to date on the changes on Jamaica Avenue.  Click here to go back to Part 1.you have any comments, or would like to suggest other projects, drop us a line at info@projectwoodhaven.com or projectwoodhaven@aol.com .
