In our look at what's going on at The Dome in Forest Park, we saw pics from different eras. On this page, we look at our "Top 10 Favorite Pictures taken at the Dome in 2009."
10) Have you ever wondered what it looked like to stand in front of a microphone on the stage at Forest Park? This was taken on a steamy June afternoon, about 2 hours before showtime.
9) In the middle of the summer, there was an International Music Festival, and there were a lot of young, energetic acts on the stage. Here, the very talented Ganessa James entertains. (Click here to see more of the International Music Festival).
8) Here's Sean Kershaw and the New Jack Ramblers. This was a great show. I had their album, Coney Island Cowboy, in my car's CD player all summer. They also played at our Street Fair. I'm sure we'll be seeing them again.
7) Here they are -- The Beatles! These guys were a lot of fun -- a Beatles tribute band. It was nice to kinda squint and picture what it might have been like had the Fab Four snuck away for an impromptu concert, like they did in "Let it Be," here in our Forest Park.
Here they are -- in video --
6) Line dancing in Forest Park! These were popular events and they usually got a good crowd up at the front. Click here to see some great line dancing at the Dome!
5) It's the King! Live in Person -- At Forest Park :-) This was all part of a Jukebox Heroes show -- it was outstanding. Click here to see Neil Diamond, Willie Nelson, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, and The Beach Boys -- it's well worth the trip!
4) Here's a cool shot -- doesn't this almost look like an album cover? This is the Mary Lamont Band - they gave a terrific show over the summer. Click this link to see some of the show!
3) This was taken just as a really bad thunderstorm hit during a performance by the Queens Symphony Orchestra.
Here's some great video of the storm hitting. Watch the singer, a young girl named Miss Antonia Kitsopoulos, belting out a solo when this horrific crack of thunder scares the crap out of everyone -- but she never misses a beat! (Click here for full coverage of the QSO at The Dome).
2) And here's a great shot from the 4th of July Concert by the Queens Festival Band. A pair of annoying kids had run up to the stage, and were being a nuisance. As soon as the next song ended the Conductor, Michael Canipe, walked to the foot of the stage and glowered at them -- and they took off. They might still be running. You don't mess with the Conductor.
1) And here is our favorite picture from 2009 at the Dome -- during the Mary Lamont show -- a couple sits and relaxes -- enjoying a beautiful night out in the park. This is what it's all about, folks.
Unfortunately, it looks like we won't be taking any pictures at shows in the park in 2010. Such is life. If you have any comments, or would like to suggest other projects, drop us a line at info@projectwoodhaven.com or projectwoodhaven@aol.com .
