FLIPPED CAR ON WOODHAVEN BOULEVARD
Less than 2 months after a horrific crash at the exact same location, traffic was backed up well past Metropolitan Avenue as police and safety crews cleared an overturned vehicle on Woodhaven Boulevard and Park Lane South. The accident happened Tuesday Evening just after 8 PM. Note: Scroll to the bottom for video of the car being dragged away on its' roof.
We happened upon the scene shortly after the accident occurred. At this point, traffic was still moving in both directions, which actually seemed a little dangerous (as you can see from the pictures above). But the 102nd Precinct was on the scene and quickly had the flares down and order restored.
They blocked the southbound side of Woodhaven Boulevard, while cars running along Park Lane South were forced to turn at the Boulevard. It was all pretty orderly and within a few more minutes, the wrecker arrived. An officer on the scene, when asked if there were any injuries shook his head and said that there were no life threatening injuries, but if anyone out there has more information, please pass it along.
Traffic was backed up for about 15 minutes while the road was cleared. We circled around once and got some shaky shots of the car before it was pulled on to the truck.
Here is some video of the car being dragged out of the way -- this isn't something you see every day!
Once again, a fine job by the 102nd and all rescue and safety personnel who responded. Our prayers go out to the folks that were in that car and we hope their injuries are not severe.
