St. Thomas the Apostle is opening its doors to the community this week, particularly to prospective students and their parents, as part of Catholic Schools Week.

As you walk the halls of STA, you'll be struck by the attention paid to teaching the kids how to express themselves through words and pictures.  We visited STA on the first day of their Open House Week and were treated to a tour which included a look at some interesting science projects.  Registration is open and you can get more information by calling 718-847-3904 or by visiting the school's official website.

St. Thomas the Apostle has a long tradition of turning out fine Woodhaven residents who become valued members of our community.  Nothing exemplifies that tradition more than this past week, when a group of STA students volunteered to help elderly Woodhaven residents by shoveling their sidewalks.

Here is this week's schedule --

Tuesday February 1st -- Open House 9:00 to 10:45, visit all of the classrooms

Wednesday February 2nd - Catholic Schools Week Mass 9:00 am All are Welcome

Wednesday February 2nd - Open House 12:30 to 2:00, visit all of the classrooms

Thursday February 3rd - Prayer Service 1:00 pm All are Welcome

Thanks to all the staff and students at STA for their hospitality and making us feel welcome.  Below, check out the computer laboratory --

Mrs. Project Woodhaven handled this report for us -- she is a graduate of STA -- she loved going back and walking through her old classrooms.

Did you know that the students at St. Thomas the Apostle have their own You Tube channel?  Check it out -- and show them you care by subscribing!  Here's a sample showing off St. Thomas' Game Club --

Great stuff!  The kids there are getting a terrific education -- very well rounded.  And th students are polite and respectful.

Tuesday they are having a "wax museum" where they dress up as historical figures -- starts at 9 AM.  Sounds like fun.

It's a beautiful school, full of history.  STA is in the midst of its' 100th Anniversary!

We'll be at the Wax Museum display on Tuesday -- hope to see you there!
