WOODHAVEN PUBLIC TOWN HALL MEETING

The Woodhaven Residents' Block Association holds a Town Hall meeting on the 3rd Saturday of every month, at 1 PM, at the Woodhaven Volunteer Ambulance Corps (78-15 Jamaica Avenue).  The meeting is open to the public -- residents are encouraged to attend and speak their mind.  Graffiti, crime, noise -- issues with all the construction going on -- illegal conversions, abandoned houses -- these are all issues we tackle each month.  And we don't only talk about it -- we try and do something about it.   Come to a meeting and become a part of your community.

The next Woodhaven Town Hall meeting is Saturday, May 21st at 1 PM.

What will you find at a WRBA Town Hall?  You will find fellow residents who care deeply about the community.  Residents who not only speak out about problems, but look for solutions.  You will find that our elected officials respond to that concern and that we have a high attendance rate from them.  It's a great opportunity to bring the issues that matter to you to their attention.

Our Elected officials (from left to right): State Senator Joe Addabbo, Assemblyman Mike Miller, NYC Councilmembers Eric Ulrich and Elizabeth Crowley.  All of them are frequent guests at our Woodhaven Town Hall Meetings.

Our last meeting took place on Saturday, April 16th.  Here are a few highlights.  First up was our State Senator, Joe Addabbo:

Next, our Assemblyman Mike Miller:

Then, Elizabeth Crowley of the NY City Council:

On this day, we were also treated to a Self Defense Demonstration by Born2Win Martial Arts:

It was a terrific demonstration, teaching residents some simple and easy-to-remember tips that could help you should you ever be attacked.  Here are some pictures from the demonstration --
