The Forest Hills Memorial Day Parade

The Memorial Day Parade in Forest Hills is one of the most well-attended in the area -- and in past years the Woodhaven Cultural & Historical Society has marched in it. However, last year only one person marched so this year we put out the call for help. We got 3 marchers this year. That's better than last year, but it's a shame that Woodhaven isn't better represented in this parade. Metropolitan Avenue was closed off so we had to access the starting point via Union Turnpike where there were some motorcycle riders getting ready to participate.

There were bagpipers galore in the parade --

Here is Arlene Annunziata of the Woodhaven Residents' Block Association alongside Melinda Katz and Curtis Sliwa. Melinda was one of the Grand Marshalls of the Parade.
