The Memorial Day Parade in Forest Hills is one of the most well-attended in the area -- and in past years the Woodhaven Cultural & Historical Society has marched in it.  However, last year only one person marched so this year we put out the call for help.  We got 3 marchers this year.  That's better than last year, but it's a shame that Woodhaven isn't better represented in this paradeMetropolitan Avenue was closed off so we had to access the starting point via Union Turnpike where there were some motorcycle riders getting ready to participate.

There were bagpipers galore in the parade --

Here is Arlene Annunziata of the Woodhaven Residents' Block Association alongside Melinda Katz and Curtis Sliwa.  Melinda was one of the Grand Marshalls of the Parade.

The next few pictures were taken at the starting point, waiting for the parade to begin.

It was great to see someone in historical dress --

Here is Serf Maltese, also a Grand Marshall of the parade.

The Richmond Hill Historical Society was there --

Here is a picture of the Woodhaven Cultural & Historical Society marching in the parade, courtesy of Ivan Mrakovcic of the Richmond Hill Historical Society.

The parade marches down Metropolitan Avenue to Remsen Memorial Park, off Trotting Course Lane (near Woodhaven Boulevard).

Here is a video of the parade --

The ceremony took place at Remsen Memorial Park -- it was a very nice ceremony and we present a few pictures with no comments, as none are needed --
